"My daughter loved learning about the process of how a TV series is made. She is now interested in production as a possible career now. The early mornings were a bit challenging but well worth the Experience."

"I cannot compliment the cast, crew and extras highly enough.  Everyone I met from the Directors to Extras were welcoming, patient, and professional."

HERE'S HOW IT ROLLS...

  1. Production companies subcontract Extras casting consultants, to manage and oversee the casting of background extras. Extras are used to make film or TV scenes appear fuller, richer, and natural. (Crowds, sporting events, wedding, parties, anything!).
  2. Extras are either cast through agents or direct / freelance. Geelong Extras is not an agent. Agents manage all the 'bits and pieces', receive a commission from your employment while continuing to recruit you for other work.
  3. Extras Casting departments do not take commission from Extras.  The department is employed by the production.
  4. Extras are paid in accord with Equity Award Rates.  Like any employment, you’ll be asked to fill in paperwork, supplying TFN, super and your account details.
  5. Extra’s work is casual, meaning not to be relied on as regular and ongoing. If you work full-time with little or no flexibility, this is probably not the work for you. However, if you are flexible, reliable, keen and able to take simple Direction (sometimes take after take) this type of work may be of interest.

Being an extra means, some very early starts, variable finish times and challenging weather for outdoor shoots. The work is fun though and provides a fascinating insight into the whole process. The food is great, and you are well looked after in terms of health and safety.  If you have time availability and flexibility, I’d recommend the experience."
